but it seems kind of hard to mess up a port-match job. Conversely; unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't mess with removing any material from between the valves though, as that definitely CAN adversely effect performance if not done correctly. I decided not to port-match mine since my engine is fully assembled and I didn't want to risk getting metal shavings into the cylinders for "a few extra" horsepower. But I've known guys that have stuffed a rag into the exhaust port very tightly, port-matched, then thoroughly blown out all metal shavings with compressed air before removing the rag and they didn't damage their engine. Seems like a crude method to me, JMO.
